Superintendent of Elkin City Schools
Elkin City Schools Board of Education named Dr. Steve Hall, Superintendent beginning October 1, 2023. During his twenty-five years of varied experience in education, Dr. Hall has gained a unique perspective and appreciation for the impact one person can make on the life of another. He leads with a servant’s heart in his profession and in the community. His career in education spans PreK-12th grade as a bus driver, custodian, teacher, athletic coach, high school assistant principal, elementary principal, middle school principal, and early college high school principal. Currently, he serves as the Director of Technology, Testing and Accountability, 9-12 Curriculum, Read to Achieve Coordinator, Summer Programs Coordinator, GEAR UP Director, School Safety, Public Information, College and Career Promise, Grant Writing, and Driver’s Education for Alleghany County Schools.
Dr. Hall is a native of Surry County and graduated from North Surry High School in 1991. He and his wife, BriAnne, also a native of Surry County and a 1999 graduate of Mt. Airy High School, currently live with their two sons, Elliot, 17, and Kameron, 15, in Alleghany County. The family looks forward to becoming a part of and serving the Elkin City Schools community.
Dr. Hall earned an associate of arts from Surry Community College and a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University with certifications in elementary education and middle grades mathematics. He also has a master’s degree in school administration from Appalachian State and completed his doctorate of education degree in educational leadership from Gardner-Webb University. He believes in lifelong learning and is a member of several professional organizations and professional development programs. With over fourteen years of exemplary administration experience, including ten years as a school administrator, Dr. Hall is a leader within the region and across the state. Dr. Hall has served as a mentor for numerous aspiring and current educational leaders.

Dr. Hall states, “Serving as Superintendent of Elkin City Schools is an honor and great privilege. I am eager to partner with the board, faculty and staff, students, parents, and the greater Elkin City Schools community as we continually strive toward excellence in education.”
