Director of Student Services, Testing and Accountability
Mrs. Julie Simpson serves as the Director of Student Services, Testing, and Accountability for Elkin City Schools. Before assuming this role, she was the district’s EC Specialist and spent 14 years as an Exceptional Children teacher in Wilkes County, contributing to her 23 years of experience in education.
Mrs. Simpson joined Elkin City Schools in the 2020-2021 academic year. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Gardner-Webb University and a Master’s in Teaching Students with Learning Disabilities from Salem College. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in School Leadership from Appalachian State University and currently holds her National Board Certified Teacher / Exceptional Needs Specialist / Early Childhood through Young Adulthood
Married for 27 years with two children, Mrs. Simpson values family deeply, which is a key reason she loves working in Elkin. She appreciates the way teachers and staff care for one another and treat their students and families as their own.
Passionate about learning, Mrs. Simpson believes every student should feel valued and have every opportunity to achieve their best. She is also a firm advocate for the importance of communication, collaboration, and honesty.
