Director of Career and Technical Education
Mrs. Danna Lyon-Carpenter serves as Elkin City Schools Director of (CTE) Career and Technical Education. Elkin High School is proud of its long-standing tradition of excellence in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, which is dedicated to preparing students for high-wage, high-demand careers. “As a forward-thinking initiative, CTE is shaping the future, and I am excited to be part of offering these valuable opportunities to our students.” says Carpenter.
She earned her Associate of Arts degree from Surry Community College and later completed a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences Education at Appalachian State University. Mrs. Lyon-Carpenter also holds a Master's Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from Appalachian State University and a proud National Board Certified Teacher.
Over the course of her 24-year career in Career and Technical Education, she spent 17 years teaching Family and Consumer Sciences and 4 years serving as a Career Development Coordinator before stepping into the role of CTE Director.
Mrs. Lyon-Carpenter is a native of Alleghany County and a 1995 graduate of Alleghany High School. She is happily married to Jonathan Carpenter, and states that they are blessed with two wonderful daughters, Sierra and Summer.
